    Saturday, April 6, 2024
    9:00 – 10:30 AM
    McHugh Room

    Canceled

Unfortunately, this session has been canceled. Due to an insufficient number of RSVPs, we were unable to guarantee we could meet the minimum number of participants required to have the Live Scan service provide a remote session. We thank you for your interest and apologize for not being able to hold the session.

You may still complete the process on your own by watching the videos online and visiting the Live Scan service of your choice. For complete information, visit the Diocese’s web page: https://scd.org/safe-environment/safe-environment-information-adult-volunteers. The sites it will lead you to are:

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

    God bless,

    Why should I do this?

The creation of the Diocese of Sacramento Safe Environment program was prompted by the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.  Safe Environment consists of two parts: Safe Haven video training and Live Scan fingerprinting/background check. It pertains to all volunteers, whether members of the Knights of Columbus or not.

In order to work as a volunteer for any event at which children may be expected to be present, every individual must have successfully completed both the Safe Haven video training and a Live Scan fingerprinting/background check.

Safe Haven Video (& included Test)

    • Takes about 1 hour to complete
    • Valid for 3 years (i.e. must be re-taken every 3 years)
    • May be completed individually online or in an in-person group session:

    Live Scan Fingerprinting/Background Check

    • Never expires (i.e. never needs to be repeated)
    • For those wishing to volunteer for both Parish and/or Knights functions and School functions, separate Live Scans must be completed: one for the Parish & one for the School *
